Hmm maybe console manufacturers shouldn't waive standard TCR/TRC procedures for high profile games.

There's two reasons for this: 1) it foments resentment from developers that get held to stricter standards and 2) the TRCs/TCRs are for the benefit of the players, right? Why are you giving players a product that doesn't meet your own standards?

It's cool to look back to the mid-2000s and see all of the console games that shipped with text that's illegible on an SD display and very clearly violates technical requirements.

BTW, I genuinely appreciate that Bethesda used Huge Ass Fonts for F3, Skyrim, and F4 so that you could actually read things even on crummy old SD displays.

As someone with difficulty reading text in games sometimes, Bethesda games have the best subtitles, and they use a good font too.
