Maybe some people are unaware of the fact that not all PhD students have stipends (I don’t) and my only income is two hours a week of tutorials and some essay grading.

I do not have institutional backing, I am not considered an employee. I don’t have any publications yet. And it is easy for anyone higher up on the ladder (postdocs and up) to abuse their position of having PhDs/jobs against me.

The job market is so bad I may not ever get an adjunct position. So don’t fucking act like adjuncts and PhDs are the same.

To that point, targeting BIPOC postgrads, queer postgrads, disabled and neurodivergent postgrads, working class postgrads too and hand waving it because you might also be queer, neurodivergent, WC ignores that you have way more privilege as an adjunct.

And also, doing it anonymously against people who aren’t anonymous puts the non-anon people at risk. It’s dangerous for PhDs and other postgrads to speak up and stand up for themselves on here.

It is totally understandable why someone might be anonymous, especially for safety or job purposes. But you don’t get to use that against people who aren’t anonymous to deflect criticism.
