I have been thinking a lot about this thread and this tweet for... 17 hours now. I do not tell you I'm an anarcho-communist because that's who I am, or because my beliefs neatly fit that box, but to describe a world I want to see. It's shorthand.https://twitter.com/femmina/status/1330262091635240963 …
This is really important. Whenever I say I’m a communist people get really shocked and they’re like, well does that mean you want to get rid of the government??? And I’m like, well okay it’s complicated. But they don’t want to listen to the nuances.

But I find that when people do make it an identity (like I have seen, say, a lot of tankies do)...like it’s impossible to have a conversation with them.

It is an eternal disappointment to me that no one actually wants to hear the lengthy answer to "what, you're an anarchist? So you don't want any government?" :(

Yeah I know. Also, it drives me up the fucking wall because no matter how much I talk about how great it would be to have small cooperative communities, people hear communist and they either think that I’m a tankie or that any participation in current gov’t is useless.
