My anxiety levels about my family and the pandemic haven’t been this high since March/April/May. Jason Kenney continues to do nothing. @CMOH_Alberta does nothing. Can Trudeau step in? What can he do? This cannot go on, December will be a disaster.

I am flying back and quarantining, and will to continue to shield while I am there. But honestly the biggest risk is my mom’s job. She works in supply line and is essential, and it’s a big warehouse where people are far apart.

There have been cases but no outbreaks, and she just got a test through work. But I am so afraid for her as the cases are going up. Alberta is now past the point that Ireland was at its worse several weeks back.

And Kenney puts in some restrictions for pubs/restaurants closing at 11. But no lockdown, and no paid sick leave for a lot of people. They are getting sick at work. Contact tracing has broken down too, so community spread is very high.

ICU capacity is near its limit also. Idk why he does nothing. Who can possibly be happy about this? I thought his response back in the spring was actually good but now...idk what happened.

Alberta is the only province without proper restrictions or a mask mandate. Only some cities/towns have mask mandates as a bylaw.

My brothers and SIL, thankfully, can shield and isolate as they work from home. My father is retired, but currently my mom is living at his place (long story) so if she gets sick then he will too.

So idk, his place is big enough for them to isolate from each other if they have to (two bathrooms, separate bedrooms), but I am afraid. My dad has a heart problem.

And while for someone with his disease he is incredibly healthy, he is still high risk. But my mom can’t afford to not work. She hasn’t made enough to retire. My dad retired largely because of his illness but he at least had a union job his whole life.

And my dad is the one who gets groceries for my grandma, who sees no one else as far as I know

So yeah while my family has been careful, as much as they can be, and they don’t have small kids to deal with...freaks me out a lot.

Ultimately for my dad it’s safer for him to live alone, but because of circumstances he hasn’t been able to. But over December once I isolate then my mom will come back to her house. So at least it will shield my dad. And if there are restrictions then okay, good.

I’d prefer to be locked down with my mom, so that we can protect my dad and everyone else.

Talked to mom today and she is taking half of December off at least so...that’s good. And she is okay with not doing proper Christmas, thank god for that.
