YES. in grad school i proposed something adjacent to that and came up with a phrase for it and my prof was like YOU CANT JUST MAKE UP WORDS and i was like okay if i were an old british dude you wouldn’t question my neologism soooooo

wtf old white dudes make up their own terminology ALL THE TIME. I spent half my time figuring out the best way to refer to a manuscript that has like 3 different names.

at kzoo last year (which i went to not knowing that most POC were boycotting because I wasn’t active on medieval twitter) i heard amy c. mulligan and ordered her book on poetics of landscapes in but still haven’t gotten to it.
