Distributed water to beasts, grabbed my ash bucket from SkullShack and brought it down to the Yurt so I can clean ash out of the wood stove. There is something very bittersweet about removing items from SkullShack for use in the Yurt of Solitude.

SkullShack was my first refuge that was all mine, my first proof that I could live a solitary off-grid life. It was where I worked out so many of the kinks that are making the Yurt of Solitude a livable home.

The yurt is more of a mix, I am more self-sufficient now. I still smile using the things people gave me, though, those concrete expressions of hope for my happiness and well-being.

SkullShack had its down sides. It is a tiny 160 square feet. It's pretty dark in there because the windows are small. It was impossible to keep absolutely everything from getting coated in wood ash every time I cleaned out the stove because the space was so small.

@UrsulaV, without@CAwkward, without all of y'all who have reached out from however far away to give me a way out, I'd be there still, miserable and afraid.1 reply 1 retweet 382 likesShow this thread -
Anyway. Thank you, beloved friends all, as we close in on the one year anniversary of me getting free and taking my animals with me. On a global scale, it's been a shit year. On a small scale, y'all helped make the world right for one shepherd.
