This article misses the point, that it’s not about prioritizing areas over higher ed but wanting to prevent clusters from forming as had been seen in universities elsewhere. And in fact it was clear from the promises of face to face teaching that the government and universities had set unrealistic goals while the country reopened early and cases spiked as advice to visit restaurants and stuff was deemed safe.

Universities and other third level institutions should have planned for online from the beginning. Then we wouldn’t have this scramble close to the end where we only have a few weeks to learn how to teach online.
