Yes, I can add to that. @CanaryCaroline was wonderfully encouraging when I turned up at Leeds wet around the ears with a thesis wondering it could ever be a book on medieval pets, and was supportiv. I cannot recommend @boydellbrewer enough as a press for any scholar.

So last night I was in tears in a not good way; and now in tears with all the support. Neither are good for the contact lenses of course

I made the mistake of taking a look and it was some of the most depressing reading I've done in years. The academic world is the better for you and for the existence of Boydell and Brewer and I'm delighted to have written for and published with you. Courage.

It is a long and not edifying story in which I was accused of bullying a grad student. Suspect he will be ok.

I'm so sorry, Caroline. This is appalling and truly disappointing.

I'm really sorry you got sucked into that. Academic Twitter is reckless & frustrated - all fuelled by an eroding job market. Best move on to worthier pursuits: for instance, I'm loving my second reading of Mark's book!

Caroline started this whole thing by replying to Chris and this tweet was not directed at her. You can check for yourselves, he was not having fun at her crying. Good lord.

and now people need to start thinking who put that collage together. This was a deliberate smearing of a junior scholar. Who is owed VERY public apologies from several people involved.
