As I said, this is not my fight. Both Chris and Caroline have explicitly acknowledged that there is another side. If you see it differently, that's fair enough.

Levi, the problem is this wasn't a philosophical discussion about the merits of PDF sharing on the internet. I was doing something I needed to do to get my work done, something that has been accepted academic practice online for years, & especially since the start of the 1/

Apology was. She's either purposefully trolling me at this point or really, really doesn't understand how twitter works. 3/3

I suppose my question is, how do we distinguish her sending people vs people who know her acting like asshats? If that's really what's going on, then it's absolutely not cool. But I havn't seen tweets encouraging a pile-on you (not saying it isn't happening, just organically)

Well, a known racist and sexist dude whom she is familiar with since they are both in a notorious FB group came into subtweets about Chris from Caroline and some Robert chap, and while she didn’t direct him there he showed up because she said he could find it easily.

I'd say if you apologize for something but then continue subtweeting it and direct people to your mentions to find what you're talking about, you're encouraging them to come and engage in your place.

Yeah, fair enough - that's not conducive to putting things to bed. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this shit, in any case. I'm still bummed tho that the actions of a few bad actors are leading to people (tho to be clear, not you) crapping on small presses who do good work.

I think small presses are great! I just don't want their editors in my mentions complaining that I won't buy their $50 book. I'm sad I'm not buying the book too!

Which is why I'm sad not to see people like us AND the editors trying to fight together against the shitty system, so that we get books and they get paid. Imagine the possibilities!

This was something I said a few days ago. If the problem lies with access then we aren’t solving anything by being rude to grad students. It’s unis who need to allocate funds to underpaid librarians to help get them books.

Because even just going to a library doesn’t do much. The librarians do all they can, but they are massively overworked right now and probably aren’t getting paid more for offering more services like scanning and mailing books plus sanitation and so on.
