It's so incredibly depressing to see ECRs and small indy presses, both barely hanging on due to the pandemic, attacking *each other*, rather than the dystopian systems of 21st C academia which doesn't value the labour of either.

Níall, no one is attacking small indie presses. An editor at a fairly large and old publisher (granted not a massive one) was rude to a grad student and a bunch of academics decided to jump on said grad student too.

And while I agree with you that neither are benefitting from the capitalistic model of academia here, there is still a difference between a precarious grad student and an editor at a prestigious press with lots of friends high on the academic ladder coming in.
