do royalties from academic publishing actually amount to something worth caring about or are the people coming for @HalstedMedieval just a bunch of unbelievable bootlicking dorks

I honestly can't remember but I think it was more in the region of $20. I think someone mentioned that their publisher once asked to hold the royalties for a year at one point because it was like $7 and they wanted to combine a couple years' money before they sent the check.

I know at the company I worked for years ago (not a publisher), it cost $26 to cut a check to a customer, which is why I was surprised when whoever it was was talking about royalties: the cost of the check was more than the face amount.
