You know, I think 90% of my caution re: Final Fantasy XVI would be lessened if they showed any kind of party system. I didn’t care for the small cast of FFXV, and I can’t shake the feeling that XVI going in such a character action direction means no traditional JRPG party.

Yoshi-P’s team’s strength lies in their wOrLd bUiLdInG and narratives, but to me Final Fantasy is if nothing else consistently at it’s most endearing when it focuses on likable characters. Never really very deep or groundbreaking, but likable.

I liked the look of the game but it seemed much more like the Witcher, or at least that was the closest analogue that stood out to me.

I would not be surprised at all if The Witcher didn’t get name dropped a ton when they were designing the world.
