1/2 Thanks for your comment! The crux of the argument is that while most phd scholars put in full-time working hours & provide essential research services to unis (that they ultimately profit off of), we’re not even paid minimum wage...

2/2 Appropriate stipends for the level of a phd scholar can only be discussed once we are at least paid a minimum living wage for doing what amounts to employee-level & -quality work. The relationship between unis & phds is fundamentally different from that bet. unis & undergrads

You know... some people have actually worked minimum wage jobs just to pay a ludicrous fee, and earn a PhD. A PhD is still an education, in fact, that's where you learn the most. "I used to cry that I had no shoes; until, I saw those without no feet"

A PhD is also a job, and their research contributes to the institution. We deserve to be paid.
