You can freeze the lard ahead of time and then just use a cheese grater on it.

Also good for pastry, scones, and biscuits for butter. You can incorporate it into the flour easier without it melting.

...I have never had a problem with the butter melting when making biscuits, what are you doing to yours

My mom never had a problem either but when I tried to make scones (gotta incorporate the butter the same way) it melted like crazy in my hands. Maybe my hands are just too warm. Idk. It was after I tried to use a fork and the fork didn’t work so well.

i used to use a pastry cutter cos i have hot hands, then arthritis made my shoulders and elbows impossible so now i always use frozen butter and a chilled grater, and my pastry is perfect every time.

For me the pastry cutter is easier than a grater which is easier than a fork. But they all suck because hands are bullshit.

I would like to get a pastry cutter, I just don’t have room for one I don’t think. Maybe I do, idk. But yes hands are bullshit. So are shoulders, mine hates me and gets mad when I bake.

That's what I always use these days. SO much easier than hands!

I have just like, one drawer and it’s already crammed full of things (my kitchen is hilariously small). So one day, hopefully.

sounds like you need magnetic strips on your wall! (please use two for knives so they can't pivot, people forget this)
