#1G updates!
Had all our questions answered by INIS. In thread:
1. For now, students are advised to put a current visa-expiration dummy date in their application (today's if you're applying today) plus all necessary docs for conversion.

2. Emailing burghquayregoffice@justice.ie is the best way to get in touch with INIS. There's a high volume of backlog, so responses might be delayed.

3. To register with immigration, you have to be in the country. Students should state the exact date to arrive in the country if not already in Ireland while applying so that enough time can be allowed for them to arrive.

4. To convert to 1G, insurance should be purchased from an Irish Health Insurance Company. Eg: studyandprotect, Odon, irishlifehealth, vhi, layahealthcare.

Replying to @AbhiswetaBhatt1 @TCDGlobalRoom
Some clarity for intl students who had to get extensions as a result of the pandemic would be nice. We've gotten nothing about that past what the global room has said, but it seemed like no one was quite sure.

There is also the problem that online registration with INIS apparently needs to be made 30 days before the expiry date, but TCD only just let us register on Friday. For those with exp dates on Sept 30, this is worrying.

Not everyone is back in the country, so they can't do the renewal.
