One thing that is really frustrating to me right now, and it’s something that I have discussed, is this idea that PhD students who supply so much labour to universities are just not kept in the loop about plans for teaching and reopening.

True - it's yet another reason that PhD students should be on staff contracts, as in much of mainland Europe (plus it would also give trade union rep, not just student unions). A PhD is the entry level academic job, but unis conveniently ignore that at crucial times like this.

Exactly. It also keeps us from organizing with staff, as you say, because we aren’t covered by the lecturers union.
