Like this woman is screaming online schooling at me and I keep asking her to consider these issues but she just isn’t and idk why.

There's no way we could keep Elisabeth off nursery, and we're neither single parents nor front line workers nor hard up.

(And I wrote most of my book without fulltime childcare, so I am quite used to working with a baby/toddler to care for at the same time.)

Yeah like idk what this person expects. You can’t just plop your kid in front of a computer and let them learn. It’s not the same as being in school and it has a host of other issues to manage.

I think people are so scared, and I do get that. But this whole thing has made me so very conscious of how impossible this situation is for children.

(Plus, statistically, it is less risky overall for nursery staff to look after children than the usual options for childcare help - ie., grandparents, quite a lot of whom are going to be in high risk categories).

That is true, but then nursery staff may bring it home to their families. It is complicated.

Ours are all isolating from at risk family, because it's not possible to know you've not got it. That's the advice here.

Same advice back home but I think the worry is a cluster happening from a child passing to a parent and then to coworkers, etc. They’re forcing 30-40 kids to small classroom and are only providing 2 masks, total, to kids.

Yeah. Class sizes were already an issue but this made it worse somehow. They are refusing to lower class sizes, and teachers are having to spend their own money on PPE and things to disinfect. Screens aren’t being widely provided.
