Reminds me of a quite large piece of mica I found in Fairmont, BC when I was about 2 or 3 years old up on the mountain up the road from where my grandparents lived. And I picked it up and shattered it. I should have kept it, because it was awesome but I was an impulsive kid.https://twitter.com/mikamckinnon/status/1297965861584556032 …
Anyway, mica is amazing. Volcanic rock in general is amazing. I enjoyed rocks a lot as a kid and collected them. Idk what happened to my collection though :(

Found a piece of fossilized wood at Drumheller as a kid and some fossilized leaves (a fern I think) in a small sandstone slab that was a part of a big pile of sandstone that my dad, uh, “found”.

I had those crystal grow kits as a kid, and I loved going to the rock shops to look at the geodes and stuff.

Anyway geology is awesome and has my utmost respect. It’s definitely something I want to know more about in a scholarly fashion as it intersects with archaeology.
