Is there a good resource on alt-ac jobs in Ireland for history PhDs?
I mean that’s the plan, but I wouldn’t want to search forever for a job on the grad scheme work visa only to then have to look for another that would sponsor me. Plus I’m apprehensive about that grad scheme visa, apparently a lot of employers will not hire on it.

It’s still what I’m going to get but Christina said no one wanted to hire her on it but that changed when she got a spousal visa.

Have you talked to an immigration lawyer?

I already had a part-time job when I got it. It kept me from being deported. So I can't help with that.
-
Yeah I mean, I need to get it because I don’t want to be forced to leave. But my chronic pain limits what types of jobs I can do as well, so even getting a part time job somewhere is stressing me out.

Are you going to play the academic job roulette as well, or just focus on 'real-world' jobs?
-
Yeah I want to have an academic job, but I need something that I can live on until I get that while I do postdoc apps and publications.

Try job fairs, if they have those again. But I heard good stories in the past about those. TCD had a bunch before covid. Also, email careers centre (Orlaith is really nice)
-
I’m not going to anything like a job fair until there’s a vaccine but hopefully by the time I need a job that won’t be far off. Not sure if the careers centre is operating right now, or what their reopening plans are like but I will check with them.
