Question for wyte academics:
How do you square your celebrations for a Black woman being the VP-candidate pick when most of you have lived your lives participating in anti-Blackness? How many of you have ever listened to your colleagues who are Black women? #academictwitter

Dude, you’re making some serious assumptions about white people. I work closely with and admire two Black women full professors (one now department head), and we have worked to address the racism they experience. How is that participating in anti-blackness?

What? Reverse racism? I literally wrote that I’m privileged, and have benefited from anti-racist policies. I need no sarcastic award, but it strikes me that there is no room for pushback on absolutism. Also in my college those two are 100% of the black women professors.

I like how you're pretending that there's absolutism, you whiney white dude. And admitting that there are only 2 Black women at your university is disgraceful.

I don’t think I’m “admitting” any such thing. We have colleges within the university. I spoke for my college. It’s pathetic, yes. Have I had anything to do with it? Possibly. I mean, I’m The Dude, so hate on me as you will. The Dude abides.pic.twitter.com/rsvF6LhX90

Do you know how not to center yourself? I feel sorry for your female colleagues.

You look like an absolute shithead rn, you’re talking to a Black woman. Just be quiet and sit with your feelings since you are clearly feeling defensive.

And you basically just used the “I have a Black friend so I can’t be racist” excuse. Just because you apparently have worked with the two Black women in what I assume is an majority white department doesn’t make you an antiracist.
