You know what can also do real damage? Harassing people who are grieving from an anon account you made for that explicit purpose.

People who are grieving over the loss of a friend that ended up being a hoax is also incredibly damaging and manipulative.

I know that people want answers. But can we just like, show some basic human decency and wait even a few days and respect the fact that - the account being real or not - people are grieving right now?

Normally I would agree with you. But when the people who said they knew her won’t even answer a question about if she worked at ASU or not, things will start to fall apart regardless. And for people who work at ASU, then they would naturally want to know who it was.

But do you need those answers right now? Today? Or can you wait for those who are either grieving a friend or are both grieving and have been manipulated by a fake account process and deal with this in their own time and way?

If people are calling out the ASU and demanding they be accountable for this person’s death, and people start to ask questions, then I’m not sure what else was going to happen.

I don’t think people who are grieving from hearing about the death of a friend on twitter should be harassed for answers about someone they didn’t know IRL, but most people were asking in good faith about a colleague.

Regardless of what the truth is, I hope it comes out soon, and in a sensitive manner to all those impacted. I don’t think it should come at the expense of the mental health of those who may have been manipulated for months or years, though.

I agree and right now what is happening and if this account is fake is INCREDIBLY damaging and hurtful to all of us who are victims.

I think the truth could be cleared up very quickly, but somehow I doubt it will happen because the person who knew her IRL seems unlikely to say it was a lie. I understand this is very hard.

I have many friends here on twitter and if I found out they weren’t who they said they were, I would be incredibly upset. I wouldn’t want to be prodded over it, but I would also be upset if people refused to verify if they could.
