Who among you does *not* have a reference manager (e.g., Endnote, Bibtex, Zotero etc) but just compiles your references manually for each thing you write?

Because they can break, learning how to use them makes me feel mentally tired, and you have to change reference styles for every academic journal out there anyway.

Another thing not to get me started on 🤣 If we could just use one ISO standard referencing system, that would save many *a lot* of pain.

There already is one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_690  Can we just use that? There is already a biblatex style too (https://ctan.org/pkg/biblatex-iso690?lang=en …). I guess I can dream...

I’ll be honest, I really thoroughly hate name and date citation styles. When I read a citation I want to know the title and full author name without checking the bibliography.

I do as well. I like the footnote style where I can check it on the page when I am looking at it. I also find it interrupts the flow of reading so I have to skip ahead constantly.
