PE teachers can wreck your health. Dr Anne Elliott found that bad experiences in school PE actively deterred people from taking exercise in later life & led to a state of alienation from their own bodies. http://eprints.mdx.ac.uk/22163/

I hated PE so much that in high school when it became optional I dropped it immediately. Being forced to run a quarter marathon at 13, the beep test (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-stage_fitness_test …), shit like that. It's a shame because I found out as an adult I do enjoy exercise.

Jesus, I would’ve given anything for a beep test instead of being forced to run the mile. Was told I’d fail if I didn’t run, and then took 28mins to finish dead last—crying—because I couldn’t breathe, and my chest and ribs hurt so badly I literally collapsed shaking at the end.

We had to do both, it was bad. I’m so sorry you were forced to do that though, no one should :(

Omg you had to do both?! I was just reading about the beep test and thinking it sounded like a nice alternative to having to run endless laps in all weather, or run laps around the gym until the coach finally relents and lets me have my inhaler. Jfc
