Instead they come out in droves to say a Black woman is being racist against a white Irish man. None of these people care about fighting racism. To them, they thrive on the ability to tear down BIPOC in the field who don’t conform to their standards.

And it is very transparent for all the other white historians out there who stay silent on the issue but only show up to take issue with the word “English” like they have always had issue with it. They haven’t, and it is a deflection technique.

Not all of you are super active on twitter but clearly nothing is being done in real life either. These people continue to be enabled by everyone else’s inaction and silence.

What is very upsetting is seeing people with real institutional power say nothing. This is a long-standing issue of course. But why is it only BIPOC and grad students and ECRs and people without tenure or whatnot speaking up?
