So @erik_kaars & I are working through our book & have come across findings of African ppl (mostly female) in early England (8th-11th c.). We've searched but discovered no extensive research on these African ppl in preconquest England. #medievaltwitter 1/6https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-24106956 …

British history, and euro history, aren't whitewashed. No one thinks that no foreigners existed. That's like saying there weren't any white people in Ancient Egypt, China and everywhere else. Of course you can find the rare white person in non white cultures and vice versa

The equation of "nonwhite" with "foreigner" and "Europe" with "white" is by definition a whitewashing. I have included this helpful diagram.pic.twitter.com/hEphxUFaeP

Oh this person is muted. You know I don't mute THAT often so imagine how irritating this one must be.

I have plenty of randos showing up in comments to tell me that stuff. This person is going to have to put in some work to get that elusive 14th follower.

Not all "POC" were technically foreigners admittedly. Some of that 0.1% in Medieval Europe were not foreign even if they had a foreign ethnicity.
