This is not true. I have British citizenship and white people use this as a point to bypass discussions of the word "Anglo-Saxon" regularly. Your argument is not new.

I live in Britain and I have seen the far right in action. They fetishise the word and identity "English". I am not saying there is categorically no problem with "Anglo-Saxon". But in the UK context, "Old English" is worse. It is EDL, not ASDL.

And I am literally telling you as one of the faces and voices of this movement and as a Black scholar that you are wrong. When was the last time you were called the N-word for asking scholars to use AS responsibly? Answer that.

It is awful that you were attacked in that way. I am giving you real information about the far right in the UK. They love the word "English". They don't care about the term "Anglo-Saxon".https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Defence_League …

I cannot believe you are giving me wikipedia information on the far-right when I am literally an activist who is targeted by various groups on the hope not hate site. Dude. Read up.

I'm making a simple point. The term "English" is more loved by the UK far right than the term "Anglo-Saxon". Therefore replacing "Anglo-Saxon" with "Old English" in UK curricula would be a gift to the far right in the UK. That is all.

And you are 100% wrong. What part of that don't you get? You are so far removed from this discussion that you didn't even realize the field has been discussing it for years, so what makes you think you're the authority here?

I'm afraid you are wrong. You do not live in the UK and clearly have no personal experience of UK discourse, other than through the distorting lens of the internet. I am not attacking you. I am giving you the benefit of my experience. If you choose to ignore it, that's your loss

You apparently don't realize how incredibly condescending you sound. Or how completely wrong you are! Did you miss the tweet above where she noted her citizenship?

"Citizenship" is a legal term. It does not necessarily imply residence. Much less experience. And much much less understanding. As this case proves.

You are hilariously wrong, and it is embarassing and sad.
