I mean, I think that the party friends are the assholes here for laughing at other people's food choices. But I get the predicament the guy was in, because if he knew it made his wife uncomfortable for him to eat pork and she was right there then I'd do the same.
Maybe I'd phrase it differently though, like, oh I don't eat pork. Idk.
I'm not too surprised about food rules, because if the smell or sight of pork makes her feel sick then I get it. I have allergies and largely I do not want certain things in my house.
But she clearly wasn't that fussed about other people eating it around her at the party so either a) there is a miscommunication about her feelings on pork, b) the wife is being a jerk to her husband about it
