I agree.
That was my thought too. Feminism lifts up and acknowledges all women and women experiences and choices.
Nothing says “feminist” like putting another woman’s life choices down
Welcome to third wave feminism. I mean, maybe that's not what third wavers think they're doing, but for those of us not on board, it sure is what it looks like to us
I would say that MIL may be as much, if not more, of a feminist than the DIL. While she seems mildly judgy, "overly opinionated", she seems perfectly fine with the fact that her DIL is a feminist and is entitled to her own opinions. She just doesn't want judged for her life.
Do we believe the op though?
This is one of those things that’s a little tough, though. Because it’s one thing to say that OP should be able to choose a more “traditional” role, but to what extent should she not be judged for encouraging and enforcing those norms on the rest of her family?
She clearly seems to show preference for the daughter who has chosen the same path over the others, she posts that her son needs to control Amber, like, don’t judge her for making her own choices, but she can be judged for trying to enforce that on others.
I mean, dil is living in op’s house. Shouldn’t that constitute at least a reduction in “bitchiness”? Op could be less petty, but she has to deal with someone disrespecting her under her own roof! Dil wouldn’t be in my house very long if she treated me like that.
Exactly. I’m the first one to call out conservatives in my family when they’re being ignorant but Amber sounds insufferable.
