So my late childhood and early teens was marked by a heavy use of the internet by me and my Gen X brothers. Video games were on the minds of everyone in the previous generation and our generation too.

Everyone had to have that Motorola Razr pink flip phone. Everyone. I was the only person without a damn cellphone in high school. But I wanted one real bad. And yeah growing up I played outside loads, but I still see kids playing outside?

Just now they have phones to make sure they can call their parents or whatever, or make sure they don't get lost. Now they are better connected to the rest of the world than we ever were at their age.

Yeah we didn't reach for our phones all the time, because we could barely do shit with them anyway. You're telling me that if you were 15 and you had a smartphone that you wouldn't use it all the time?

There were loads of times I had to find a payphone or borrow someone's cell to call my parents. Loads of times when I felt like I needed to call someone to be safe when I wasn't able to.

And damn if I wasn't playing video games when I was physically able to get to them. I brought my gameboy advance to school, we all kept up with Pokemon news.
