For those here who eat oatmeal/porridge (they are the same, don’t @ me), what do you prefer?

I’ll never understand milk in oatmeal, or adding the liquid and oats together and bringing it to a boil. Both result in oatmeal that has the consistency of wet concrete.

honestly I'm lazy, use quick oats, and a microwave. (I also am on a big rig so I don't have a kitchen or I'd do the boil the water first on the stove method.)

I mean quick oats and a microwave are a totally legit way, with or without a stove. Pinhead oats would take forever still in a microwave I think anyways.

alas I still haven't quite gotten the knack of eyeballing the ratio of water to oats. I go for a little bit thick because I add several spoons of cream and a little brown sugar to the finished oatmeal and that brings it back to perfect texture.

I usually eyeball it on the stove, but it’s easier because I can gauge the thickness as I pour the oats in.
