The largest bulk purchase I have made, ever, has been beer and flour. And that’s been from online places in the last month.

I do love you, my North American friends. But shopping and storage are very much not the same in Europe.

Also, for some reason that I do not understand, Ireland just does not have access to certain things. For instance, you cannot buy an Instant Pot here. Or at least I haven’t seen any on any sites that sell small appliances.

And for some reason unbeknownst to me, the UK shops that normally we can get things from just won’t ship certain things. UK Amazon is our amazon too, but a lot of places will not ship to Ireland. Many other stores that are in both countries will have more products in the UK

And you can’t order those here.

Again, no one’s fault that this happens (at least not the folks giving advice) I just wish people would stop assuming everything is like North America.

My spouse made a rule on his blog about this - If readers wanted to suggest he buy something that costs more than $10.00, they were welcome to buy it for him, but the constant “Just spend money!” comments were really bumming him out.

Wow that is really good advice. Seriously though, I really need people to stop telling me to buy all this stuff. Break making existed before Dutch ovens, it should be possible to make it without. And yet you’d think that it requires loads of expensive equipment to do right.

      Bread making rather.

Dutch ovens are great! There are other vessels! I’m from filmmaking which has our own gearhead wars and have to constantly fight the battle of “cool, what can you make with the tools you have” with & for my students.

I also think Dutch ovens are great, I just cannot afford one or have the space for one. Someone recommended to me a pizza stone too and I was like, I can’t store one, and she said, oh I put mine in the oven always. Like do you think I have a massive oven? No. It small.
