This should not be controversial but guess what: just because you like their scholarship doesn't mean that their scholarship isn't underpinned by their politics, because of course it was. Everyone's was, and is, and will be. Objectivity does not exist.

This tweet brought to you by me, someone who had to google a German historian from 70 years ago who was, you guessed it, very high up in the Nazi hierarchy and was personally chosen by Hitler to be their official historian. He was being cited in articles from the 70s and 80s.

Will someone be mad at me, in my PhD viva, that I didn't cite this guy? Maybe, but I think my defense of "I don't cite Nazis" is fairly ironclad.
