Same. One thing I found interesting when I doing postgrad study was that a lot of early 20c medieval Norwegian historiography is Marxist-inspired, but basically works on a good king/bad king framework and tries to claim total bastards as instruments of class struggle.

This despite said bastards' supporters having an ideology that was actively hostile to the peasantry. AKAB, IMHO.
