You get sick from the virus being an aerosol and getting into your eyes or nose. If it’s just on a surface then washing your hands before you eat should be fine. Just move the food to a new container if you are worried.

If you are dealing with people with compromised immune systems then take all the precautions you need, but the virus doesn’t spread via ingestion.

Google the Hong Kong hot plate story. Also, it's not clear whether Covid19 spreads most significantly by long-lived fomites or aerosal, but it certainly seems to be very good at spreading both ways.
