Taking my blood pressure on my upper arm causes blinding nerve pain. Despite this being noted in my chart, every time I go to the doctor I have to negotiate/fend this off. Not one physician or nurse has asked why or said “hey, that’s weird, let’s look into it.”

Dr. Google says “radial nerve is being compressed/has poss. been damaged” and permanent damage can occur if it keeps being aggravated, so it’s super-fun to start every medical appointment having to fend this off. But not once has anyone treating me looked into why.

Last spring before my surgery a hamhanded male nurse stealth did it on the upper arm despite being told not to (I was conversing with my doc and he tried again when I was distracted) and when I screamed everybody in the room kind of...ignored it?

I’m working on a little card to bring to appointments with reminders like: 1) How would you treat a thin person with same symptoms? Let’s do that! 2) Blood pressure = Forearm ONLY 3) Before you touch me for any reason, walk me through it verbally and let me consent.
