Piggybacking off this to say: medical studies (or at least one I read) also show that if you are iron anemic and have heavy flow then iron supplements can help. Don’t take iron supplements without talking to a GP as they can be dangerous but it is helpful.https://twitter.com/menysnoweballes/status/1219589953585405958 …
NSAIDs can exacerbate asthma and they are very hard on the stomach. So if you aren’t allergic, don’t have asthma, and make sure you take small doses with food then you’ll probably be fine but it’s not a cure-all.

I know what it’s like to have doctors not tell you things or give you bad/unhelpful advice and not everyone can see a doctor, but ibuprofen isn’t the safe alternative to paracetamol like I have seen people say. It has its own dangers.

Not everyone has the privilege to shop around for a GP, so I get it. And even in Canada it’s hard to find one because many don’t accept new patients all the time. Here in Ireland I got lucky but it’s expensive to see a doc here.

I’ve definitely self-diagnosed (which was usually a bad idea) but it was partially in response to the fact several GPs didn’t catch something obvious.

But even after a sort of successful self-diagnosis with a mental health thing I still talked to my GP about it to confirm.

Painkillers are serious business though guys. Follow the instructions on the back for dosage. Seriously.
