Neither Tara or Nadine were born in Ireland... As much as I would liked to have included them. And there are about another 100 incredible role models who didn't make the list. It's always a tough call.
No one is ever happy with how we do it. But do not accuse me of racism.

I‘ve said literally nothing about racism But also the arbitrary standard of ‘Irish Born’ is seriously hurtful and undermines those of us who move here deliberately to work and contribute our whole lives here.

That is exactly what you are trying to suggest in a very public way. We have rules for our features and lists, as do many publications. We can't please anyone but to suggest intentional malice is not on.

I’m on this list (thank u!) & I don’t recall being asked for my place of birth. I notice Saoirse Ronan, who was born in the Bronx, is featured quite high. You should deffo consider updating what is a quite an exclusionary criteria in this day and age. It’ll only improve the list!

Where they are from is only one factor. We include lots of people for several reasons and don't include people for several reasons too. I was simply putting things into context by replying. Could have just left it

Would be cool if you could listen to the feedback tho. There’s over 500k people in Ireland who weren’t born here, many of whom are doing great things
As the owner of Goss there’s nothing standing in the way of you updating the criteria so they could be considered for inclusion x1 reply 0 retweets 20 likes -
Always will listen to feedback but we have strict criteria, it's the only way to bring down the numbers to 100. I myself have been left off lists in newspapers for criteria issues. It's just the way it is. We are different with the awards, both Nadine and Tara have been nominated

I appreciate all of your opinions. And if I didn't care I wouldn't be replying. I understand where you are all coming from. I just don't like any suggestion of intentional malice.

You’ve replied to every white person who’s talked to you with grace, yet only called me, the WOC bringing it up “an accuser”, made up spurious inconsistent birthright guidelines, said “can’t please everybody” implicitly weighting pleasing white people more, eyerolling needlessly

That is completely untrue. I'm going to leave this here now. Happy New year!

No it's basically exactly what happened, and your inability to account for yourself and these criteria is telling.
