I sometimes wonder why the casual and hyperbolic use of very specific concepts like “gaslighting” and “trigger/y/ed” never get called out as ableist. But then I remember that mental illnesses, even those covered by the ADA, don’t count.

1) I was very careful to say that *I* found it trigger-y. Reading the phrase put me into a freeze state where I could not control a series of flashbacks & intrusive thoughts. 2) Gaslighting is a specific form of repeated abuse, often leading to mental health Dx & brain change
