Hello Anne. I'm sure someone flagged to me that this has always been the case - whatever we post on Twitter technically belongs to Twitter. But I am absolutely no expert. I can't imagine that Twitter would actually try to assert the right to other people's content? Worrying.

Things can still be your copyright, it says that in there. This is so that twitter can show any images.

rahaeli @rahaeliTwitter is changing its ToS so people are reading it again and freaking out. this happens every time: this is not a rights grab, this clause is necessary for the site to be able to store, transmit, and display what you post. Every ToS on the internet has this clause. https://twitter.com/filmmakerflying/status/1201859026767798275 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

🚩Shepherd 🏴 @NeolithicSheepReplying to @OiShinyThingsNo. This is the CYA license that allows them to transmit a pic you post to twitter. It's in the TOS currently. Periodically someone discovers it, panics, everyone else panics, lawyers point out that without this license twitter legally can't show a pic you post to twitter.2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes
Even Instagram has these in their TOS. It’s pretty bog standard.
