Second time within as many months I think seeing people peddle these myths. First person apparently wrote her thesis on the history of knitting, goodness knows what sources she was using. Now this as well. Why can’t people verify these sorts of stories?

I know I've encountered the ”sweater patterns were used for identifying bodies washed ashore” thing in a scholarly encyclopedia (can't recall the title, this was two years ago) and they even pointed to a manuscript illumination! So it's made up from whole cloth huh? ;P
