Hey #medievaltwitter, has anyone done studies of the appearances of leaders on coinage in the early medieval period? I am specifically looking at early Medieval English coinage, and how kings were depicted.

Specifically, has anyone looked at how diadems/hair/clothing on coins is an important expression of power?

Also, look at the work of Rory Naismith, as he's an expert on coinage of that period/place.
