the field or academia, but we sometimes lie to each other and give a false sense of happiness about academia when it's eating us inside. If you're in it and love it, great. It's for you, but we shouldn't pretend that these patriarchal systems of power within white 10/12

supremacy are not robbing us from happiness & appreciating all that we've accomplished. If we aren't free to make some noise and be who we are without being required to 'fit' or be 'non-political' while just being 'safe' then we are not being true to ourselves. 11/12

The interesting thing is that the “fitters” don’t seem all that happy, either. Only the very top make excellent money; everyone else walKing around checking footnotes to see if they were properly cited!

It’s true. And for ECRand PoC, and ALL women the disproportionate burden of committee service, advising, representing, and the old white men just sail on by. letting ppl know that even the coveted jobs never let you actually DO what you loved in the first place.

Agree, but is that CLASS advantage? Don’t listen to me today: I’m all freaked today by a bunch of honor killings of boys kidnapped by a pedophile ring. During the rescue, some faces of victims shown on social media, so families just killed them. Just devastating
