      This is a weird methodology. Monasteries just kind of... lead to a seeping-in of church law in the surrounding populaces? I don't think that's how anything works. And surely they should account for the spread of monastic properties rather than just the monasteries themselves?

      What about places without monasteries nearby? Like excuse me...that is a lot of Europe. Also monks didn’t enforce Church law on the general populace usually. Plus there are other types of monasteries than what they listed. Ireland and Britain???? C’mon.
