Regarding the ID of English: BAME people may be less likely to ID as English but many do. However, I highly doubt that any ID as Anglo-Saxon. I do not think that switching to Early Medieval England in place of Anglo-Saxon England will make racism worse there.

The basis that English is also a mainstream term that is used by regular people as well as historians, not just the EDL? That no one was hand wringing over “England” in “Anglo-Saxon England” until now.
