Can anyone recommend any recent (or generally seminal) publications dealing with the creation of early medieval English kingdoms and the development of kingship? Pls RT!

I’m writing my PhD on kingship in early medieval Britain and Ireland, probably a good start is Barbara Yorke’s book. The journal Anglo-Saxon England will have several articles for you too. Mercia: An Anglo-Saxon Kingdom in Europe is also a great publication.

Check out (older now but still good) Early Medieval Kingship, ed. by Sawyer and Wood too for some broader discussions.
