I will add that one of the many, many upsetting and disappointing things about this article is that it cites some very good scholars - also some scholars who've long been discredited, but very good scholars too. Cites, but cannot have read carefully and did not understand.

Yes, it cites them for small points here and there, and it does not cite many of the publications these scholars have written on the subject that are perhaps more extensive. T.M. Charles-Edward's book on Kinship, for instance. It's frustrating all around.
