Er No the Chinese did have woodblock printing of images and text but movable type was a european invention With at least a 1000 -2000 characters needed it was easier to carve the whole text n block print Block printing is a different process than movable metal type
Not sure of your initial point then to disagree with the Chinese printing press. Manuscripts that were hand written also continued after the western one.
