Valid how? The article from @ISASaxonists demonstrates the inaccuracies of Anglo-Saxon. As someone who studies early medieval Ireland and Britain we discarded “Celtic” a long time ago. It’s only academic usage being to discuss it from a misuse perspective or a linguistic group.https://twitter.com/jamgyal/status/1191344170482520064 …

I did a little research but I could have interpreted it wrong. Celtic is associated with white supremacy, like Anglo-Saxon, correct? Today is the first time I’ve heard scholars don’t use Celtic.

It has been associated with white supremacy, but outside of linguistics, we do not use Celtic to describe Irish/British/Welsh etc people anymore. And it’s use as an ethnonym for peoples in Gaul etc is heavily debated. For early medieval studies it is no longer used to ref to ppl

It plays into this idea of a continuous lineage from the Keltoi mentioned by the Greeks to early medieval peoples and that is a historical fallacy based on the idea that ethnicity = descent.

You do see “Celtic literature” but again, referring to language not people.
