They're all pretty well equivalent, why? Alpaca is warmer than sheep, because the hairs are hollow, and dog undercoat is warmer than alpaca.

Was just curious. I can’t wear alpaca or even knit with it so I was curious if some sheep’s wool was nicer than others. I had some really nice thick donegal wool that had a fair amount of lanolin in it but I couldn’t keep using it because it had sticks and grass in it.

There's certainly wools that are softer than others, and spinning methods will make a difference - worsted vs woolen. But you'll p much have to spin your own to get woolen.

I can get woolen spun here in Ireland, there’s a few kinds at my local shop. They are very soft.

Also woolen spun traps more air so tends to be warmer!
