Thank you. I’m doing a lot of reading (lurking?). Just trying to keep up and understand.

Thank you for staying engaged! I see you're an independent scholar too. Would love to hear more about your work. I secretly love military history but went the literary route.

I'd love to hear about yours as well! Military history really got me back into school, but now I'm knee-deep in stuff I never dreamed of. There should be some solidarity with literary work, as it sometimes represents the bulk of what military historians have to work with.

Yeah sometimes life throws us a curve ball. Are/were you a crusades person? I've never really understood why we don't have more solidarity, as we are all historians in one way or another but we're working on forging relationships slowly, I guess.

Ah, me. I started out analyzing descensus and hell narratives in apocryphal texts. I was originally interested in 'othering' of the devil in OE but advisors and such had different plans, so I went the traditional route. Now I get to talk about all sorts of othering, lol.

For whatever reason that made me recall some images I saw in Meteora (pretty sure it was Varlaam monastery). This whole wall was so detailed, but I couldn’t stop taking pics of this monster.pic.twitter.com/OzNCWpN0yH

So cool! That's what I do too! Who cares about pics of me, I'm taking pics of hell, lol. I wanted to add images of hell's mouth to my book but all those images would've bankrupt me. I hadn't seen this one though! I imagine there are so many of these hidden treasures all over.
